Teeth 11 & 21 (Upper Central Incisors): Esthetic failure of legacy porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns. Significant gingival margin recession
had resulted in dark metal exposure, compromising the smile's harmony.
Tooth 12 (Upper Right Lateral Incisor): Identified crown fracture requiring conservative structural restoration to match the new anterior profile.
Clinical Background & Diagnosis
TMJ disorders occur when the jaw joint and surrounding muscles experience undue stress, leading to chronic jaw clicking, tension headaches, and severe joint pain. When the bite is misaligned, the jaw muscles work over time, preventing the joint from settling into its natural resting position.

How it Works
Phase I: Preventive Foundation
The anterior stop creates targeted contact on the front teeth, which actively disengages the back teeth (molars).
A professional dental prophylaxis (cleaning) was performed to optimize gingival health, ensuring a clean field for accurate impressions and restorative placement.
Muscle Relaxation
Phase II: Restorative Excellence (Teeth 11 & 21)
By preventing the back teeth from clenching together, the splint instantly reduces stress on the temporomandibular joint and relaxes hyperactive jaw muscles.
Removal of the failed PFM crowns followed by the placement of E.max layered crowns. These restorations utilize a high-strength zirconia core to provide both structural durability and the natural translucency required for central incisors.

Over time, this appliance guides the lower jaw back into a comfortable, anatomically correct position.
